The Elk is the largest member of the Ciervo family, a powerful animal of the cold northern forests, and the bulls carry broad, flattened antlers that spread out like open hands and are shed and regrown each year. For all that size Elk are mostly quiet browsers, feeding on leaves and water plants and moving with a slow, deliberate calm through the woods and wetlands.
