Snowman Coloring Page (2 of 4)

On the second sheet the snowman is surrounded by winter details, from evergreen branches and a little birdhouse to snowflakes and woodland animals. Coloring the small details first and finishing the snowman last helps the whole scene hold together.

About the Snowman

Snowmen are one of the most familiar winter pictures, made by rolling and stacking snow and then dressing it up with whatever is at hand: a hat, a scarf, a carrot nose, and buttons. People enjoy building them wherever there is snow, and the image works just as well on paper for anyone who wants a taste of winter, whatever the weather outside.

A good way to approach these sheets is to choose a small palette first, for example two cool blues for shadows, one warm red or green for the scarf, and a single accent color for the hat. Leaving the body mostly white, with pale blue shading on one side, keeps the snowman bright and gives it a soft, rounded look.
