About the Mallard

The mallard is one of the most familiar wild ducks, instantly recognizable by the drake's glossy dark green head, the bright yellow bill, and the crisp white ring around its neck. Floating calmly on ponds and rivers, mallards have a relaxed, easygoing presence that makes them a comforting sight.
