About the Fir Tree
Fir trees are cold-hardy evergreens native to mountain forests across Japan, North America, and Europe. Even in the deepest midwinter snows, their fragrant, flat needles hold a rich green color, making the fir an enduring symbol of resilience, quiet strength, and seasonal celebration.
In Japan, native species such as the Momi fir have long been admired in winter landscapes and botanical art for their upright symmetry and sculptural cones. Their layered boughs naturally catch soft pillows of snow, creating serene scenes of stillness.
Coloring Tips & Brain Training Benefits
Layer two or three shades of green—such as sage, pine, and deep forest green—working from the sunlit tips inward toward the trunk. Leaving uncolored white highlights or adding a whisper of pale ice blue along the snow edges creates a crisp winter atmosphere while gently exercising fine motor control.
