Wood Stove Coloring Page (3 of 4)

In the third sheet a kettle sits on the stove in a log-cabin room, with firewood stacked nearby. Dark gray for the stove and layered browns for the logs will help the bright flames stand out.

About the Wood Stove

A wood stove heats a room by burning logs inside a closed iron or steel box, and the warmth radiates from the metal and the glass door. In many parts of the world people have gathered around stoves and fireplaces during the cold season, and the quiet flicker of flames is often associated with rest and conversation.

When coloring flames, begin with the lightest yellow in the center, add orange around it, and put a little red at the outer edge; this gives the fire a natural glow. Keeping the stove itself in cool grays or deep browns makes the flames stand out, and the logs can have a few darker lines to suggest bark.
