About the Sleeping Fox Family

Foxes do not truly hibernate, but in cold weather they spend more time resting in sheltered spots such as dens and hollows, curling up with their bushy tails wrapped around their bodies to keep warm. A mother fox and her cubs may stay close together for a good part of the year, which is why sleeping fox families are such a beloved winter image.

Warm oranges, soft whites, and deep browns are the natural palette for these foxes. Start with the lightest tone over the whole body, add the darker shades near the edges and shadows, and leave the chest and the tip of the tail white. A quiet blue-gray in the background helps the warm fur glow.
