About the Japanese Macaque
The Japanese macaque, often called the snow monkey, is a sturdy, expressive monkey with thick fur and a reddish face, well suited to cold mountain country. It lives in close-knit groups, and the strong, tender bond between parent and child is one of its most endearing traits.
With its warm family groups and gentle, watchful expression, the macaque has a calm and heart-warming appeal that anyone can enjoy. The tender image of a mother and her baby makes it an especially welcoming and approachable subject to color.
Benefits as a Coloring & Brain Training Activity
For coloring, the reddish face and the soft body fur can be filled separately to capture the warmth of the pair, and following the flow of the fur is gentle practice in shading. Working through the mountain woods around them a little at a time makes a soothing page that gently exercises the fingertips.
